In the Episcopal Church, aesthetics matter. The surroundings in which worship takes place have their own meaning. In fact, we believe God intends these elements as what are often called "a visible sermon".

"In the meantime, the boy Samuel continued to serve the Lord, wearing a sacred linen apron. Each year his mother would make a little robe and take it to him when she accompanied her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice…The boy Samuel grew up in the service of the Lord." ~ 1 Samuel 2:18-21
Acolyte means an attendant or follower and Samuel is one of the first examples of an assistant to a priest. St. Paul's acolytes assist the priest by attending to several important tasks which enhance the worship service to help glorify God.

Ushers are charged with overseeing the doors of the church during the liturgy, the word "usher" being derived from the Latin "ostiarius": one who keeps the door. Like a door that both opens and closes, their ministry is twofold: they welcome members, strangers, and guests alike, bearing to them the gracious welcome God has given all humanity to be in relationship with him; and ushers are charged with ensuring the congregation is comfortable and working to defuse any disruptive situations which may occur.
They bear Our Lord's message of "Come to me…and I will give you rest" (Matt xi.28) as well as the prophet's warning, "Be silent before the Lord God! …The Lord has prepared a sacrifice and consecrated his guests" (Zep 1.7).

The Flower Guild consists of dedicated parishioners and friends of the community who rotate providing Altar flowers on Sundays. Each member is responsible for arranging or ordering flowers for the altar on her/his Sunday, as designated on our calendar.

Lector is the title given to those who read the assigned Scriptures for the day. The Ministry of the Lector is to proclaim the Word of God by reading from both the Old and New Testament at church services throughout the year. A Lector may also lead the Prayers of the People. Lectors are scheduled to serve at Sunday Morning Services.
Lectors are not required to be licensed and anyone with a love of Scripture and a good speaking voice can be a Lector after a short training session.
